From 1 November 2026, EU customs requires three Product Identifiers (PIDs) for every product sold to a consumer in the EU from outside the EU.
UPS now joins FedEx, DHL Express and Zonos: all three identifiers are sent on every product of a UPS shipment entering the EU as a business-to-consumer sale.
Merchant PID — the ID your shop or marketplace gives the product
Manufacturer PID — the manufacturer’s product code, such as the MPN
Standardised PID — the barcode number (JAN, EAN, UPC)
PIDs are taken from the product fields already on your orders, and they appear on the customs invoice. Rates and non-EU destinations are unchanged.
See our help article on EU Product Identifiers for the full details.
